Elise A. Moran
After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1990 with a BFA in jewelry and light metals, Elise worked a couple of years for two Providence based jewelry designers, while developing her own line of silver and gold jewelry. She then co-owned EAM Gallery, a jewelry store featuring her work from 1993 until 2004 in Portsmouth, NH. Since graduating, she has also maintained a wholesale business, and her jewelry can be found in many fine galleries and shops around the country. Currently Elise has a studio in the Button Factory (Portsmouth) where she continue to create and explore in metals and other materials.
Inspiration
" I am most inspired by nature’s perfect design. Since 1993, I have explored translating the complex and balanced forms that I see in nature, into small metal sculptures to be worn and to adorn. It is one of my favorite challenges… to see a beautiful flower or branch, etc. and to figure out how to recreate it in silver and gold. The results are whimsical, delicate pieces that, I hope, imbue a classic elegance that will flatter those who wear them."
CARE:
1. Clean jewelry with warm water and a mild soap to remove dirt and oils. Dip in tarnish remover (i.e. Tarn-X) Wash jewelry again with either a solution of baking soda and water or soap and water, then dry thoroughly.
NOTE: Don't submerge hollow jewelry with holes. Don't put pearls or other porous stones in tarnish remover-follow instructions on bottle. Don't wear beaded jewelry when bathing or swimming. To restore the soft satiny finish of the metal, rub with scotch-brite or course steel wool.
