Beth Sturm Beth Sturm studied fine art jewelry at schools in the United States and at the Royal College of Art in London under the direction of renown designer Wendy Ramshaw. After attending the University of Kansas I moved back home to West Virginia to concentrate on my custom jewelry designs and, with my mother Janice Garwood Sturm, opened my first bead store in 1991. A majority of my business was custom designed jewelry for a growing customer base on both coasts. My designs incorporate the finest quality beads and gem stones -including Svarovski crystals- fused with Sterling Silver. Based on the success of my first store, I opened a second in Pittsburgh called the Bead Mine the following year. Meanwhile, under my mother's influence and guidance, I continued designing custom jewelry while simultaneously building my bead business. After my mother's untimely death in 2005, I created Garwood Design as a homage to the most inspiring person in my life. |
